Collecting Daulton

by chrisbiszantz - 15 cards (Last updated on Jul 8, 2021)

1. 1983 TCMA Reading Phillies #11 Darren Daulton

I began collecting Daulton with the simple goal of having one of each of his cards. Naturally, I started with his first card. I saw it listed for $50, so I waited as I thought the price was high. I saw it on eBay a few months later for $21.50, and I jumped on it.

2. 2014 Topps Archives - Fan Favorite Autographs #FFA-DD Darren Daulton

This is my favorite card in my collection. It was also my first graded card. The 1989 design was favorite as a kid.

3. 1993 Baseball Card Magazine / Sports Card Magazine #BBC8 Darren Daulton

Another eBay listing, but it stands out because the seller called it "oddball."

4. 1993 Stadium Club Philadelphia Phillies #1 Darren Daulton

I had this team set sealed in a case. The gold foil is similar to what's now on Topps Archives. Sadly, the foil detached, but I got to see all the other cards in the case finally.

5. 1995 Classic MLB $10 Phone Cards #NNO Darren Daulton

I got this card in 1996. My grandma picked it up in New Mexico. "It has a Phillie on it, and I think you'll like it."

6. 1995 Select Certified - Mirror Gold #57 Darren Daulton

I bought this card 3x...because mistakes were made. :)

7. 1995 Sportflix - Artist's Proofs #27 Darren Daulton

I got into a bidding war for this card. I spent almost $50 to add it to my collection.

8. 1995 Upper Deck #380 Darren Daulton

The catcher's mask he is wearing in this card is now signed and sits in my office. It still has some clay and sweat stains as well as chips in the mask.

9. 1996 Stadium Club - Silver #106 Darren Daulton

I totally gambled on this card. The silver variation of this card was distributed through cereal boxes. They can be rare and pricey, but I saw it in a lot, and it paid off.

10. 1998 Score - Showcase Series (no PP #) #139 Darren Daulton

Man...this one was hard. It took me 6 months to find this card. I don't know much about the "no PP#" so (as always) I'd love to learn more about it. ...but it was lost in the mail...

"Because mistakes were made" - LOL...can't we all relate to this?

Also, I loved those old Baseball Card Magazine panels.  Thanks for including it.  I get happy childhood memories seeing them.
