C2Cigars

This list could lead you into creating a sister list.  Players that were selected that maybe shouldn't have been.

I concur with C2Cigars.  My choice.....Mark Redman Kansas City Royals....2006....dreadful selection.  Other than that fantastic list!!

Lyman Bostock was talented enough to have eventually made an All-Star team had his career and life not ended so tragically in 1978...

The problem then becomes who does this "deserving player" replace. Who got the spot that he deserved? In your first example who's spot does Bob Bailey take? Dick Allen was the starter and he was elected by fans, so you can't replace him. Which other NL 1st Baseman's spot does Bailey take, Willie McCovey or Jim Hickman?

Bob Bailey - .287, 28 HR, 84 RBI

Willie McCovey - .289, 39 HR, 126 RBI, 9th in MVP voting

Jim Hickman - .315, 32 HR, 115 RBI, 8th in MVP voting

I can't believe Kirk Gibson never made it to the all-star game! Why am I collecting him then! LOL
