2013-14 NBA Rookie Review

by Billy Kingsley - 61 cards (Last updated on May 21, 2014)

51. 2013-14 Panini #198 Glen Rice Jr.

Son of former Heat/Hornets/Knicks/Lakers/Rockets all-star Glen Rice, Glen Rice Jr. was drafted 35th, but only played in 11 games.

52. 2013-14 Panini #166 Andre Roberson

Taken 26th in the draft, Roberson played 40 games for the Thunder.

53. 2013-14 Pinnacle #40 Dennis Schroder

The German Schroder played 49 games for the Hawks after being drafted 17th. He also spent time in the D-League.

54. 2013-14 Panini #173 Peyton Siva

Drafted 56th out of 60 picks, Siva was the lowest draft choice of the 2013 draft to play in the NBA, getting into 24 games for the Pistons.

55. 2013-14 Panini #162 Tony Snell

Drafted 20th, Snell got quite a bit of playing time, 77 games worth in fact. One of the relatively few rookies to make the regular rotation of his team this season, Snell did have to suffer the indignity of having his name pronounced as "Snail" due to the drawl of one of the Bulls TV announcers (though I don't know who)

Front Placeholder

56. 2013-14 Panini - Rising Tide Autographs #47 Hollis Thompson

Yet another rookie on the 76ers, Thompson actually got quite a lot of playing time, starting 41 of the 77 games he played. He was not drafted.

57. 2012-13 Panini #249 Royce White

One of the more controversial draft picks in recent years, White suffers from mental health problems that leave him deathly afraid of flying. The Rockets liked him enough to draft him 16th in 2012, but then sent him to the D-League, where he initially refused to go and play. He eventually did play 16 games during the 2012-13 D-League season, but he did not get the call-up to the Rockets. The Rockets then traded him to the 76ers, but after a few pre-season games, the Sixers cut him. He was in limbo most of the 2013-14 season, but the Sacramento Kings gave him a 10 day contract and immediately sent him to their D-League affiliate, where he played 4 games. He was called up and finally got into an NBA game. He played in three games, but only 9 combined minutes. He only attempted 1 shot (a miss) and committed two personal fouls, but he actually got to play. The Kings did not sign him for the rest of the season, but hinted they may be interested in bringing him back for 2014-15. Speaking as someone who has non-visible health problems, I'm certainly rooting for him.

58. 2013-14 Panini #185 Jeff Withey

Withey was taken 39th in the draft, as is the first rookie to play as a member of the New Orleans Pelicans. He played 58 games.

59. 2013-14 Panini #165 Nate Wolters

Wolters was taken 38th, and also played in 58 games for the Bucks.

60. 2013-14 Panini Prestige - Bonus Shots Red #164 Cody Zeller

Cody Zeller was taken 4th overall and is one of only two Rookies to play in all 82 games. He proved to be much more adept than many of the tv analysts predicted he would be. His brother Tyler plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers, his other brother Luke played for the Phoenix Suns in 2012-13, and their uncle Al Eberhard played in the NBA from 1974-78.
