2013-14 NBA Rookie Reviewby Billy Kingsley - 61 cards (Last updated on May 21, 2014) |
11. 2009-10 Upper Deck #221 Nick Calathes
Calathes was drafted 45th in 2009, but played in Europe, making his debut with the Memphis Grizzlies this season. He actually contributed quite a bit to the Grizzlies, but was suspended just before the playoffs began for violating the NBA's drug policy, apparently for using an anti-balding drug, already losing his hair before age 30. |
12. 2013-14 Panini - Rising Tide Autographs #43 Lorenzo Brown
One of the many rookies who played for the 76ers this year, he was drafted 52nd in the draft. |
13. 2013-14 Panini Totally Certified #205 Dwight Buycks
An undrafted point guard, Buycks played only 14 games for the Raptors, but spent more time in the D-League. I did not see him play. |
14. 2013-14 Panini #163 Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Caldwell-Pope was taken 8th by the Pistons, and played in 80 games. The Pistons did not have a good season, but plan to build around the several young players they added to the roster this season, including KCP. |
15. 2013-14 Panini #193 Isaiah Canaan
Canaan was taken 34th by the Rockets in the draft, and only played in 22 games. I saw him play only briefly, in a blowout game when the little used bench players got a chance to play. |
16. 2009-10 Panini Rookies & Stars #120 Dionte Christmas
Undrafted in 2009, Christmas joined the Phoenix Suns for 2013-14. I did not see him play. |
17. 2013-14 Panini Prestige #198 Ian Clark
Undrafted, Clark impressed during the Summer League, and ended up making the Jazz roster, where he got a chance to play 23 NBA games, he also spent time in the D-League this season with the Bakersfield Jam. |
18. 2013-14 Pinnacle #17 Robert Covington
Covington spent most of his time in the D-League this season, playing in only 7 NBA games. His was a case of my learning about his existence was when I pulled this card from a pack. As big of an NBA fan as I am, I've usually heard of most players before I get cards of them, but he slipped through the cracks, so that was a pleasant surprise for me. |
19. 2013-14 Panini #197 Allen Crabbe
Crabbe was the first pick of the second round of the draft, but only got into 15 NBA games. I did not happen to see any of them. |
20. 2013-14 Panini #180 Luigi Datome
Italian import Datome was one of several rookies on the Pistons this year. The only time I got to see him play was during a pre-season game. He was not drafted. |
