The 100 Card Club

by AnalogKid - 30 cards (Last updated on Jun 16, 2022)

I like the idea of this thread! For baseball, I might have 6 that would be on my list. For football, maybe 4-5. In NASCAR, I have maybe 10 that would qualify for a list like this. I had a list on another site about NASCAR drivers that I have at least 150 cards of and I think it's at 7 now.

As for your 3 players, I've traded away most cards of them. Never even got close to 100 for any of them, but it helped me get my Cardinals players closer to or over 100. For Cardinals, I have over 100 cards of Ozzie Smith, Stan Musial, Ray Lankford and Albert Pujols. Lou Brock and Yadier Molina are in the 80's now.

I keep this stat on Excel and I'm always excited to get someone across the 100 card barrier. I don't remember the exact number I've been able to do this with bht it's probably about 300. I'm really curious to see which NHL player will be the first to hit that mark, I have not gotten anybody past 50 yet. But I'm still in the stages where I'm adding all the early 90s cards to my collection so it's only s matter of time. I'm sure I'll write a post on Cardboard History when it happens.

Yes, IfbBC beat me to it. Collecting only Topps basecards (unless it's pre-1951) limits my player collection capacity. I have nowhere near 100 of anyone. But cool list!

This got me to look at my player stats.  I only have two players over 100; Tim Brown and Howie Long.

I have four: Cal Ripken, Barry Sanders, Mark Grace, and Aaron Rodgers.  Ryne Sandberg and Jordy Nelson are both in the high 90s and will probably join the club soon.

Congrats on getting 5 players on the list! I don't know when Gwynn joined your list, but he also joined my 100+ list this year. I also had Manny Ramirez, Tom Glavine, I-Rod and Griffey Jr. join my list this year (as well as a couple more STL players). Griffey Jr. actually joined the 200+ list this year. I really need to make some lists like this for the trio of sports I collect most.

According to the collection stats here (which may not be entirely accurate due to how multi-player and team cards are linked) I have 100+ cards for 65 hockey players (with Wayne Gretzky 1st at 921 and Daniel Alfredsson 65th at exactly 100) and for 51 basketball players (Michael Jordan 1st at 673 and Carmelo Anthony 51st at 101). And I'm pretty sure i would have never bought a Carmelo Anthony card, unless it was part of a set or to complete a set.

@bevans. I counted 117 players with 100+ cards. That's amazing! I think I'd have several more now but I didn't collect from 2001-2015. I'll get there :)

I have one hockey player for sure. Doug Wilson 307 cards and just added 2 more. Also Bears WR Anthony Miller at 113 cards and counting.  White Sox Jose Abreu also made it over a hondo. Roenick, Belfour and Chelios also over 100.

Great list. I am sitting at 3 over a hundred. Wade Boggs, Mike Alstott and Edgar Martinez. Noone else is close...... Cool idea!!

I haven’t come close to getting over 100+ cards for a player. The closest for me is Ken Griffey Jr. with 71.

Nice list Analogkid!  As of right now I have only 2 players over 100 cards.

  • Mario Lemieux - 123
  • Sidney Crosby - 101

But I still got a boatload of cards to enter into my collection.

At the height of my collecting, 15-20 years ago, I used those 100-ct plastic boxes for my top guys, and for some reason I remember David Robinson as the only guy so full that I couldn't close the lid.  I kind of want to find some cheapo guy now and go all-in on him.  I'm looking at you, Errict Rhett!

Congrats on adding 5 more to the list this year! I've added a ton of people to my own list since I last checked this list. I'm up to at least 83 different people with over 100 cards in my total collection. Without doing all the math of adding traders to keepers, I have 11 NASCAR drivers in my PC and 46 drivers in my traders list that are over 100 cards (5 drivers are in both lists). I have 9 NFL players and 22 MLB players that are over 100 cards with none of them being in both lists. I'm sure more MLB guys would join the list if I add up the haves (from sets) with the traders.

Lucky! I PC Braves, especially Freeman, Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, and Chipper, so the fact that you have so many of Maddux and Freeman is sweet!
