BucCollector's Wantlist Top Ten

by BucCollector - 14 cards (Last updated on Feb 16, 2023)

1. 1924-25 Dominion Chocolate Athletic Stars (V31) #25 Fanny Rosenfeld

Possibly the first card to feature a named, individual basketball player. If you are interested in women's basketball on cards, check out my list:

2. 1948 Bowman #38 Buddy Jeannette

This HOF rookie is one of only two cards issued during Jeannette's playing career, and the other is a bread label. For my collection of basketball players from the Pittsburgh area.

Front Placeholder

3. 1952 National Tea Labels #NNO Danny Murtaugh

One of my PCs. Have never seen even a picture of this card.

4. 1970-71 Dayton Daily News (M137) #148 Manny Sanguillen

Another of my PCs. This one belongs to a friend, whose scan I borrowed. Only one I have seen.

Front Placeholder

5. 1971-72 New York Nets #NNO Jim Ard / Rick Barry / Jeff Congdon / Sonny Dove / Joe Depre / Jarrett Durham / Manny Leaks / Bill Melchionni

Don't know what this is or what it looks like, but it's the only "card" of Jarrett Durham, a Duquesne grad and longtime coach at Robert Morris University.

6. 1973 Sherbrooke Pirates #NNO Tony Armas

Most of the Pirates of the 1970s didn't have minor league cards. Here's one. I have some of the cards from this set, but not Armas.

Front Placeholder

7. 1974 Seattle Rainiers #NNO Rick Kuhn

After quitting baseball, Rick Kuhn played basketball at Boston College and was involved in the infamous point-shaving scandal there.

Front Placeholder

8. 1978-79 Mexican Pacific League Stickers #154 Mike A. Easler

https://www.tcdb.com/Profile.cfm/daclyde has blogged about this set. Could there really be only one in existence?

Front Placeholder

9. 2006 Topps McDonald's All-American Game - Game Day Autographs Aftermarket #G14 Jacki Gemelos

Suffered through five knee injuries and missed three seasons in between high school and college. She had a successful career in Europe, logged some time with the USA Basketball team during the World University Games, played for the Greek National Team as a dual citizen, and appeared in 35 WNBA games. This, and the non-auto McDonald's, are her only cards.

10. 2008 Salute to Columbus Eras #NNO Manny Sanguillen

For my Sanguillen PC. I have several other cards from this set, which was an insert in a Columbus Clippers program.

Would be interested in a backstory of why you want these particular cards. Would they finish sets? Are they tough cards of players you collect?

Very cool. Nice to know why people collect what they collect. Sounds like you have a lot of fun with the hobby!

One of my teachers in high school was Rick Kuhn's older brother. I remember that situation well. All came to be with a few high school buddies of Rick who were "Made" if you know what I mean.

That Forbes Field card is beautiful... I'd love to get that for my ballparks collection..
