The largest Topps set of the vintage era, at 330 cards. It can be an annoying set, however, as the card numbers are printed in dark blue on a green back. There are several I cannot make out which number it even is...luckily, I have the checklist so I was able to figure them out. Last set to have ABA cards, the league would be absorbed by the NBA after this season, with 4 teams moving to the older, larger league- the rest shut down. Complete!

Fleer could not get an NBA license for the players but did produce team logo cards through the latter half of the 1970s and the very early 80s. They are not common and in fact I'm still chasing the 1981-82 issue.

For this season Topps went with giant, postcard sized cards for some reason, making this one of my least favorite sets of all time. Of course, I have it complete.

The Fleer stickers didn't look much different from year to year.

The 1977-78 Topps set was shrunken down to 132 cards, the size they would use for the rest of the 1970s. This year is unique in that all 132 cards can be found with both brown back and white backs. I am one card away from having the complete set in both versions, although I may actually have it buried in my duplicate stash. At the time I got all the cards, I didn't know there were versions, and just went by if I had that number.

A little bit of design variation this year. They went back to putting only one team per card (sticker) so for somebody like me, who collects team logo cards, this is a big improvement.

This Bob McAdoo card is one of the first 70s cards I ever added to my collection. I have this set Complete!

NBA sets should NEVER list only one year...but Fleer did. The stats above refer to the 1978-79 season.
