Sets in my Collection, vol. 3: NBAby Billy Kingsley - 105 cards (Last updated on Jan 10, 2022) |
102. 1995-96 Ultra #45 Dikembe Mutombo
This was the first Ultra set I ever saw...and it's still near the top of my favorites list, (my 4th favorite set of my first year) even though, now that I am older, I realize that MANY cards in this set were cropped way too closely. It's like Fleer had a mandate that no feet were to be shown under any circumstances, and if you could cut off knees and elbows, too, great! But I didn't pay attention that kind of stuff as a 12 year old, and the memories I built with the set overcome any of it's shortcomings.

103. 1995-96 Upper Deck #302 Nick Van Exel
This set is very dark, but I love it anyway. These would have been the first UD cards I ever saw, and as some know, the only card I ever had but didn't any longer was from this set. It was a David Robinson Electric Court parallel that I traded the instant I got it in 1996...and regretted it instantly. I chased and hunted a replacement for that card for 22 years, until finally, in January of 2018, Jason German sent me a replacement. When I do my annual countdown of favorite new addition per month on Cardboard History, I know for sure it's going to be the card for January...and maybe the year. |
104. 1995 Kenner/Hoops Starting Lineup Cards #NNO Latrell Sprewell
Although I began collecting the NBA, and I was still very active collecting action figures at that time, I only have 9 of the SLUs from this year. Surprising. |
