I'd love to hear what the 2+ words were for each player if you remember.

You've only met baseball players?

A valid question! Perhaps the title was a bit broad, but baseball was the mindset I was in. Though honestly, I'm not sure anyone else that would have a presence on this site would apply anyway!

I wish I could remember more of the interactions from when I was younger. Sutter and Dawson were both at the 2009 All-Star Game Fan Fest in St. Louis. Dawson was an organized autograph session, but I was a little kid so he took the time to talk to me, which was really cool. Sutter was just walking around chatting it up with fans. I remember Tommy John asked me if I wanted to play professional baseball, and I told him I didn't think I was cut out for it, but he encouraged me to "Follow my Dreams", as he wrote with his autograph. Chris Carpenter was recovering from injury at the time, and he and I talked briefly about his expectations for where the 2011 Cardinals were heading (that worked out well!) Wainwright and Matt Carpenter were together, and it was a quick interaction. Don't remember much, but both were exceedingly polite. La Russa was a fun one. He was doing a Q&A and he and I went back and forth a few times about the Yadier Molina/Brandon Phillips/Johnny Cueto brawl between the Cardinals and Reds a few years earlier. Cobb was in St. Louis for a series and I noticed him signing autographs for someone who had recognized him. I asked him a couple of questions about the Rays and his favorite stadiums to play in. Wick was doing a meet-up/autograph session for kids before a minor league game, and I took my nephew. Wick seemed like a good guy and it helped my nephew get excited about baseball. Grichuk signed an autograph for me during warmups, then later in the game I participated in some dumb singing-between-innings game with my fiancee, and then Grichuk got my attention from the dugout, joked about my singing (which I deserved), and talked Cardinals baseball with me for a couple minutes. Naquin was a quick one, just a couple back-and-forth comments while he was signing autographs before a game. Edmonds was at the Cardinals Hall of Fame with Dan McLaughlin, who was the Cardinals play-by-play announcer at the time. The three of us commiserated about how poorly the Cards were playing around then. Lots of good memories!
