Steve Nash played for Canada internationally.
Mark Rypien was born in Calgary.
Nice to see Jesse Lumsden, Canada's two sport athlete (Football in the Summer/Fall & Bobsled in Winter) make the list.
Not a wrasslin' fan, eh? =;)
A correction. Kirk McCaskill DID play hockey while at the University of Vermont.
You're also missing Justin Morneau(New Westminster, BC).
Thanks, I'm going with the played professionally, otherwise the list might be 3 names deep. I do have a Morneau card in my collection, but haven't logged it into my TCDB collection yet. Once I do, I will add him to the list.
A few more baseball Canadians you might have. Rich Harden, Terry Puhl, Matt Stairs, Jason Dickson, Rheal Cormier.
Thanks. I think with the possible exception of Dickson I have cards of each of those. Just need to get them (and others) logged into my collection.
McCaskill actually played one season for a Winnipeg Jets farm team..
Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (NFL)
Rob Ducey and Denis Boucher.
Thanks. I forgot to add Ducey to the list. I've done so. I don't seem to have any Boucher cards catalogued. I'm virtually certain I have some, so once added he will go on the list. Same applies to Vince Horsman who I know I have cards of, just not catalogued into my collection yet.
Reggie Cleveland and Pete Ward. Golfer Brooke Henderson played hockey goalie as a kid, but she has no card for that sport.
Do celebrity captains count? Burton Cummings (The Guess Who) represented the Winnipeg Jets but never played.
Cummings would certainly qualify. As would Brooke Henderson from above. I'd just have to acquire a card of theirs. Henderson has very few, I dont think I have the Pro Set Platinum of Cummings that would be the easiest to get.
Just a couple more NFL Football players for you - Rueben Mayes RB New Orleans Saints (had 2 or 3 good seasons before getting hurt), and Tommy Kane WR Seattle Seahawks (had some issues outside of the game, and I think he's in jail now?).
Yes, have cards of both, just need to catalog them. Another Canadian I know I have cards of is O.J. Santiago. Yes, Kane is currently serving an 18 term as a guest of Corrections Canada for murdering his wife.
Minnesota Twins player Edouard Julien was born in Quebec.
I see a distressing lack of Hart Family members and associates on here. Also this list is lacking Stratusfaction. Also Le Champ-I-OOOOONNNN himself actually should be in the “Like Father, Unlike Son” list on here now that I think of it, as he spurned his NHL playing father’s profession of choice for other pursuits, and a bit surprising he’s not on here. Might be able to get a He Who Shall Not Be Named card rather cheaply, so unless you feel the WWE is justified in keeping him “out of sight, out of mind” he does belong on here.
It's fun to see Larry Walker on this list because he grew up wanting to be a professional hockey goalie (even traveling over a thousand miles to try out for a professional team in Regina). Baseball wasn't even on the radar for him until he was in high school.
James Hinchcliffe is from Canada, same as Gilles Villeneuve (and son Jacques), Kathryn Teasdale, Paul Tracy, Earl Ross, Trevor Boys, Maryeve Dufault and Patrick Carpentier.
Other than Carpentier, which I haven't cataloged yet, I don't have cards of any of those racers in my collection. |
