2022 Major League Debuts

by DarkSide830 - 302 cards (Last updated on Nov 2, 2022)

21. 2021 Choice Somerset Patriots #16 Ron Marinaccio

4/9 NYY: 1 IP, 0 H, 1 BB, 0 ER, 2 K

Before going down with an injury on July 3rd, Marinaccio had posted 13 consecutive scoreless outings to drop his ERA from 11.25 to 2.33. He would later post two more scoreless outings after his return.

23. 2014 Topps Pro Debut #191 Gosuke Katoh

4/9 TOR: pinch runner

Formerly a top prospect in the Yankees system, Katoh stole a potential bench spot from another former Yankees phenom - Greg Bird - in Spring Training as a member of the Blue Jays in 2022. He scored key runs in one-run wins in both of his first two starts.

24. 2019 Choice South Bend Cubs #20 Ethan Roberts

4/9 CHI: 1 IP, 0 H, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 0 ER, 0 K (GF)

25. 2017 Choice Burlington Royals #25 Collin Snider

4/9 KC: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 ER, 1 K (W) (GF)

26. 2018 Grandstand New Hampshire Fisher Cats #NNO Zach Jackson

4/9 OAK: 1 IP, 0 H, 1 BB, 0 ER, 1 K (GF)

The unheralded Jackson became a surprise rock in the Athletics bullpen in 2022. One highlight was nearly going all July without allowing an earned run thanks to a fourteen outing scoreless streak.

27. 2021 Bowman Chrome - Prospects #BCP-175 Hunter Greene

4/10 CIN: 5 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 3 ER, 7 K (W)

The second overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft, Greene shrugged off years of injury woes in 2021 with a breakout campaign that saw him reach AAA for the first time and dominate overall. The 22 year-old than continued his successful run into 2022, making the Reds Opening Day roster as part of their rotation. Greene hit 100 MPH twenty times in his victorious debut, becoming the first SP to defeat Atlanta in their title defense season.

28. 2021 Topps Heritage Minor League #66 Heliot Ramos

4/10 SF: 2-3, R

Ramos, long one of SF's best prospects, was one of 2022's first call-ups. He scored a key run in his debut that would aid in a one-run win.

30. 2019 Panini USA Baseball Stars & Stripes #8 Andre Pallante

4/10 STL: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 ER, 0 K

Over five outings from April 15th to April 26th, Pallente charted 9 scoreless innings while working in a variety of bullpen roles. Later, Pallante allowed just one run over 3.1 innings of work vs San Diego on May 30th to earn his first win, then he followed up with his first two starts, both of which ended in Cardinals wins and both combining for 9.1 innings of one-run ball.

I think Brian Moran made his major league debut against the Rangers tonight for the Angels. Like I know he played obviously, but I think it was his first major league game

Nah, Moran debuted for Miami in 2019. He's still rookie eligible, but he debuted then.

I'll get that tomorrow. I use BBREF's debuts section, which updates some time the day after every slate of games.

I only have been commenting on the players who made the debut against or with Minnesota so anything else is up for grabs ;).
