Baseball people in the background ... '60s & '70sby theFalcon - 90 cards (Last updated on Mar 28, 2024) |
For now, I'm going to omit "traditional" action cards to make the list more manageable in length.
81. 1977 O-Pee-Chee #85 Bill Singer
Tom Bruno (21) at spring training. That might #12 behind Singer, which would be Ernie Whitt ... nobody wore #17 for Toronto during the regular season in 1977. |
85. 1978 Topps #221 Chris Speier
Mike Jorgensen ... based upon trades of both players in 1977, this pic had to be between April 27 and May 22. |
87. 1978 TCMA The 1960's I #0155 Mike White
John Hoffman (9) and Jerry Grote (8) at Shea Stadium in 1964. |
90. 1983 Galasso 1969 Seattle Pilots #34 Gary Bell
I think that's NBC broadcaster Sandy Koufax in the upper left at Comiskey Park in 1969. Bell was still on the Pilots when they played a Saturday afternoon game there on 4/19/1969. |

Yeah, I don't need to see a #8 to identify Yogi, LOL.
Cool Concept! I don't know haw modern you want to get in the future (since this says 60s & 70s), but here's a couple off the top of my head: https://www.tcdb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/1340/cid/234927/1999-Topps-194-Rey-Ordonez (w/ John Cangelosi) https://www.tcdb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/1411/cid/251410/2000-Topps-37-Rey-Ordonez (w/ Ellis Burks) These are action shots, but there are a lot of cool cards featuring an out at 2nd, so that could also be a concept. Just a couple ideas that you could take or leave.

I'm adding about five cards at a time, which is enough work for me ... add in action cards from the '70s and I'll be doing this forever ... a separate list of action-only cards from the 60's and '70s would be more manageable in scope if anyone wants to take a crack at it ... here's a Pete Rose I discovered recently:

Good find, I'm inclined to agree, so I'll add Koosman.
1978 Topps #38 Willie Montanez | Trading Card Database (tcdb.com) I believe that's Rod Gilbreath in the background. 1977 O-Pee-Chee #85 Bill Singer | Trading Card Database (tcdb.com) Tom Bruno 1977 O-Pee-Chee #103 Mike Willis | Trading Card Database (tcdb.com) I think that's Chuck Hartenstein, it looks like a 24.
I added Bill Singer ... not sure about the other two. |
