Good day to you all! I hope you are staying cool out there. I am currently sitting at work with A/C because it is 109 degrees outside. Yesterday temps got up to 113 degrees. The issue is that I live in the PNW and we are lucky to get more than two days in the 100s, and we are no where near 105 plus. But on the other hand, I just got married on Saturday. Now that you have met my favorite human in the world now onto last weeks mystery player. The card that I randomly pulled was 2002 Fleer Focus Jersey Edition Peter Warrick.
This weeks mystery player went to Calvert Hall College High School in Towson, Maryland and was a 3-star recruit. He originally committed to play football at University of Connecticut. But, ended up playing at Penn State. He played in 13 games as a true freshman. In the next 3 seasons he started all games.
Many experts thought he would go as a fourth or fifth round draft pick as the 6th best Free Safety. He ended up being selected in the fifth round as the 8th Free Safety in the draft. During his rookie year he was a starter for all 16 games making the Pro Football Writers all-rookie team. Again this player wad named the starter at free safety but missed the week 13 match up due to a foot injury. He started 14 games of the 15 games he started that season and got a rank of 80.6 from Pro Football Focus.
During his third season he ended up losing his starting position, and only played 16 snaps over the first 3 weeks. After an injury to the Strong Safety, he was named the starter in that position. He also recording his first interception as a pro during his starting job at strong safety which was returned for a 90-yard touchdown. He went back and started every game in his 4th season, even after a head coaching change. After the season he was given the eighth highest rank among safeties by Pro Football Focus at 82.7.
Over the next two year he had switched teams to go and play for another team in the division. He started all 32 games during those 2 seasons.
