1992 Food Lion Richard Petty Racing Forum

Though the set name does not have "Daytona FL" in the name, the packaging image does.  I have an opportunity at a local online auction for two boxes of these but they are labeled "Watkins Glen NY" and "Martinsville VA".  Are the cards different with each racetrack or are they the same set but issued in the different racetracks?

Judging from the images from the "packaging" page of the set it looks like it is all the same set. Just the backs or a front of a card from within the set showing.

This is one set. Food Lion issued a pack of cards for every race on the schedule that year, combining into one big set.  They basically had a new pack (almost) every week to drive foot traffic to their stores.

Also, if you buy one of those boxes, be aware that all the cards in the packages in each box will be identical.

Yes beware, it's that same pack of 4 cards 96 times in any box and there are 29 different 1 pack gets you the set for that race

In case any of the above explanations were unclear:

Every pack in the "Watkins Glen, NY" box will contain exactly cards #69 - 72.  The "Martinsville, VA" box is either from April or September,  The packs in the April box will have only cards #29 - 32, and the September one will have only cards #93 - 96.

If you look through the checklist, you will see that every fourth card is a cover card.  Each cover and the three following cards were from a given week's pack.  This is not an unusal packaging scheme for sets distributed as point-of-sale promotions.
