So, the concensus seems to say, use what team they PLAYED for, not the team's city at the time of the card issue.
My first instinct was that there should be Anaheim Angels ONLY during the years 1997-2004 (both years inclusive). And ONLY Anaheim during those years. But when there are cards of Rod Carew who only played during the California Angels years (CAA 1965-1996, Carew 1979-1985), then those cards have to be exceptions. Therefore, sorry to say if you're an Angels collector, you have to look at all 3 team names (LAA, CAA, ANA, and back to LAA) to make sure you know what's out there for the Angels in any given year.
Glad I collect a relatively simple team.

PS: With the exception of 2005, I cleaned up my errors and many other's errors. I hadn't touched 2005 stuff, so I know that wasn't me. I'm also not exactly sure when the name change occurred, so some of the 2005 sets may actually be RIGHT being ANA and the others right by being LAA. I'm no expert on that, so I'll leave that to someone (or ones) who is an expert. Being a team collector, I appreciate the teams all being assigned and correct. I've been working on the more recent sets by checking two other web sites (comc, ebay) for images, as well as a google image search here and there to figure out teams for the insert sets. It's been a VERY time-consuming project - but at least I've been enjoying it.
