2011 Topps Update Baseball Forum

To be honest the 1996-97 season carries a bit more "weight" to me because I got to experience it firsthand. The first draft I ever watched, in fact. 

Even though the 2002-03 draft class was pretty terrible, chasing cards of those guys helped me get through a real tough time so there is a lot of sentimental value there, too. 

I held off replying last night just to see if anyone would mention it. But no one has yet. How about 1991 MLB?

Chipper Jones, Ivan Rodriguez, Jim Thome, Mike Mussina, Jeff Bagwell: that's just the HOFers. There were also RC's of Randy Tomlin, Carl Everett, Jeff Conine, Tim Salmon, Bret Boone, Brian McRae, Denny Neagle, Roberto Hernandez, Rondell White, Mike Lieberthal, Reggie Sanders, Luis Gonzalez, Kenny Lofton, Keith Mitchell, Ryan Klesko, Raul Mondesi and Eric Karros. That's a pretty hefty lineup of players to join the league all at the same time.

A Hobby box of 2011 Topps Update is currently on "sale" at DA Card World for $1,495....   Just the chance of pulling the Trout RC in mint condition is driving the box. The June 2019 Beckett is listing the Trout at $500 outright.  And then there's the parallels.  Martinez, Goldy and Altuve are nice RC's in the set--with Altuve sitting around $50, but Trout is driving that train and that price.

It's pretty insane. Luckily, I own the Trout. Got it on a strange fluke. Somebody's already sorted through cards. No inserts...  But Trout in the only pack of 2011 update in giant amazon box of opened packs. It was mixed in with a bunch of other stuff.  You never know....
