So this fella here has a few different ways to spell his last name I see. In his first year it looks to end with jev, then it ends with yev and then iev ?!?! A Google search seems to pick the iev ending as its preference but not sure how to proceed. I'm thinking iev should be his official spelling with the other ones as aliases, but again not sure how to add multiple aliases or if its even possible. Help??

Who is the player in question? Is it a set from a North American league? I would say that for our purposes, the spelling on the back of his jersey might be best for his official spelling, with the alternate as the alias. Just my opinion.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Alexei Vasilyev .............. only two cards with images and neither show his jersey spelling, but of those two cards neither is spelled Vasilyev. The 1995 card is Vasiljev and the 2000-01 BAP card uses Vasiliev. Go figure. I added the name I have to the yev PID but even Wikipedia has him as Vasiliev and once you read the bio the proof is in the pudding, should I just forward this on to Admin as well?? Thanks Swirtz.

Thanks pistonfan, that is him for sure, so obviously(?) his PID should be Vasiliev (english spelling) with an alias of Vasilyev (russian spelling) .................... =) ............. gotta love it. Anyone else with me?

This is one reason why I wish we could add multiple aliases

Turning off trading because my collection is in complete disarray after moving and I don't know when I can get it organized.

We could also use the real name (in russian): Алексе́й Васи́льев
I guess that is what is on his jersey when he played in the Russian league.
It is a mess with names, much harder than one would think. As a soccer collector and trying to add checklists here there are a lot of players with various umlauts, different spelling, nicknames etc.
