The Data Base lists a card like this without the Autograph or seal of Authenticity as a ( 1992 Trax Richard Petty Prototype card # P3 ) I can't seem to find this card in the Data Base. Does it belong there and where should it be entered? If it belongs in the Data Base could someone please add it and I will add the scan.. Thanks... Paul..

That 'seal' looks like a sticker that has been added to the card, so my initial thought was that this is an aftermarket modification. However, "International Race Products" is the company name in the copyright line of Traks cards in 1993 & 1994. This one is going to take some more research.....

I'm a bit stumped too! That is definitely a sticker placed on the original prototype card after the card was signed. My only remaining thought is that this card was a Promo card given out by IRP after they bought Traks Race Products. IRP is the last company that filed a trademark for Traks, but that expired a LONG time ago. I have no idea how this card would have been distributed or put into the secondary market.

Consensus from the experts is that these were promotional items distributed by Traks directly to dealers. I added the card to the list of '92 Traks promos here:

Good work, Tom. I wish you had added the teams for Parsons and Gant to the list too. They completely escaped my mind when I was linking the cards to the drivers correctly (names included "prototype" in the description) last night.
Billy, I thought of that too. I found no info about that. Traks was gone for over a decade until Press Pass brought the brand back for 2006-2008. They did no buybacks during that period, at least that I could find. I have to go with what Tom found. It seems completely logical, especially for the time period.
I like seeing another member challenge us though. That's always fun!

New info on this card! Someone just pulled one from a hobby box of 1995 Traks. So this couldn't be a dealer-only promo. The odds were stated as 1:600 packs. Here's a link to the Beckett thread:
