1989-90 O-Pee-Chee Hockey Forum

Recently picked up a box of this product and the gum is firmly affixed to the card in each pack. Is there a way to attempt to remove it without damaging the card? I've heard of a freezer method; can anyone expound on that or provide other options? Thanks!

No, sorry. Whatever card is touching the gum is destroyed, and possibly the next few as well. 

Yeah I have had no luck with freezer method.  I am also waiting to find a solution as I have a Mark Messier O-Pee-Chee from the 80s with a piece of gum stuck to it.

One note I can pass on though is that if you have a card that just has a gum stain or residue on the front you can use nylon to remove it.  I borrow one of Mrs Gunny's nylon socks and rub it on the front of the card and the gum residue disappears.

Appreciate the responses. I threw one of the cards in the freezer to see what happens. Will check in a few hours.

The worst case is if the gum has broken down chemically. I watched an opening of 1975 OPC baseball and they didnt even finish because the packs were wrecked. It was heartbreaking seeing a destroyed George Brett. Even when the packs were brand new there was one ruined card that was basically seen as a loss.

You won't be able to remmove from back.   For the front, you don't need nylons.  Any clean rag will do.   Just hold firmly while erasing.
