I own a Dave Winfield card from this set. One has it listed as "* @ 1989..." where only I star is observed and the other has listed as "* * 1989..." where two stars are observed. I would assume that all cards on this checklist from this set have these two varieties but I'm not 100% sure. Would somebody who owns multiple cards from this set mind confirming or denying this information so that adjustments can be made? Thanks.

Please note, that if this is something that affected the entire set, and likely does, it shouldn't be checking a few cards here and there. This should be a project for the entire set itself.
Here's thread as an example of the update to the 1990 Topps set. 1988 did a similar update no to long ago.

I know and understand it's a project for the entire set. That's why I started the forum because I don't have the resources to do all the work myself and check to make sure all cards follow the different format of "*" or "* *". I don't know who I can assign parts of the project to since I don't know who has what cards so I can't really do much on my end to research the project. So if someone can assist with delegation with research, that would be great. Based on previous copyright variation researches from other baseball card sets released in the 1980s and 1990s, typically the copyright variations apply to all cards in the set, but I do understand that this information still must be verified in order to make it gospel. So I'd appreciate it if the community can please assist me with this research. Thanks.

John Kruk only has * *. I have never seen his card with a single * and I have a bunch of them.

Here:

As you find a version that exists, put an x in that column - for "1 Asterisk (*)" or "2 Asterisks (* *)".
This is the method we used for the other 2 Topps Big sets (and others as well).

-- Dan -- Note: Please see my profile for more info regarding trading (section updated 10/25/2023). I have added a large portion of my inventory to the site, and currently have trading turned off (details are in my profile). I have (finally) unearthed my 2 very large boxes of Star Company minor league sets and they are available (email for details).

Since you cannot edit the title of the post I would start another with a title asking for help on the research and somehow link to this one to get people to Dans spreadsheet. One does not need to hold the card to do online research although it is easier if you do.

I updated the spreadsheet, but only for the third series, as I believe this is the only series with copyright variations. Here are my set notes:
Almost every card in Series 3 (#221-#330) was printed with either a * or a ** in the copyright line. Exceptions are cards 271, 292, 318, 321, 322, and 323 (** only) and #309 (* only).
