2023 Topps Baseball Forum

I opened a blaster of Topps yesterday, and sorting through these I noticed something odd with my #1 Juan Soto card.  All the card backs have black or blue borders, but my Soto card has a “San Diego Padre brown” border.  All the images I see online have a black border for this card.  Not sure if this is just how it photographs (my photo looks darker than the card itself, but you should be able to tell the difference from the black text on the back and the brown border), or are there two borders? Thanks for any info from others with the card.

Pretty sure all the backs are team color-ish. Phillies and Cardinals have different shades of blue and Oakland is in green. Do you have any other Padres cards to compare against?

Most of the colors on the back match the color in the right position box window. So a team like St. Louis has their classic red in the team logo box and their blue in the position box window (with a brightened transparency), then the back is blue. Generally the prominent team color is in the team box, but not always.

Oakland for instance is the brighter yellow team box, green position box = green back.
Mets = Orange > Blue = Blue back
Even the Reds are Red > Black (transparent to gray) > Black back
