1934 Kurmark Moderne Schonheitsgalarie Series 1 (Garbaty) Non-Sport Forum

1.  Garbaty was who issued the set

2.  The set name is Moderne Schonheitsgalerie

(Modern gallery of beauty)

3. There was 2 different series 300 cards in each

4. I have a card from series1 and i have the series 1 checklist

5. Some of the images scanned into this set are from series 1 and series 2. The backs are different

6. I have found a card that is marked series 2 that does not fit with the set here or the checklist that i have

I can not find the checklist for series 2

I think some of this set listed here is wrong

I have been researching this for over a month before posting this

I had some communication with Birdfan, and did some research of my own as well. I cannot find a Series 2 checklist either, nor really a whole lot about this set. Everything above appears correct, including the part about our checklist being off.

Any vintage non-sport experts out there with some ideas?

Were the two different series released in the same year?  I guess they're using "2 Folge" as a reference for Series 2, folge is German for episode or sequence.

Is there anyway to fix this so we can add series 1

This set was beyond being a mess, and soon, the set that this forum was started on should be no more in the database. (But, I wanted to move this over, so we didn't lose the discussion.)

Biggest problem was that there are 2 series, both released around the same time, both numbered 1-300. Since we only had one checklist, no one knew which set we had here, and many apparently thought there was only one set - and the checklist we had was some crazy hybrid of the two series. There was really no saving it.

Additionally, as birdfan has noted, the cards do not have "Garbaty" on them anywhere, but they do show the cigarette brand they were packed in ("Kurmark") and the backs all have "Moderne Schonheitsgalarie" printed on the top back. Keeping with TCDB guidelines, I named the set "Kurmark Moderne Schonheitsgalarie Series x (Garbaty)" - keeping the Garbaty there in parentheses because the set seems to be listed in other places as that (and this should help anyone searching).

I went through the cards that had images and/or collections 1 by 1 and moved them to their respective sets (be it Series 1 or Series 2).

Additionally, at this time, there is lots of opportunity to add PIDs for many of these people. Please be sure to enter all the PID info. Thanks.
