In the 2014 Topps Heritage set, for the first time, there was a parallel insert set which TCDb calls Chrome Purple Refractor. (Actually the site lists it as Refractors, but that's a different topic.)
In the 2015 Topps Heritage set the parallel insert set was again listed as Chrome Purple Refractor. (No "s" this time.)
In the 2016 Topps Heritage set the insert set name changed to Chrome Purple Hot Box Refractor.
The 2017-2019 insert set names were back to Chrome Purple Refractor.
In the 2020 Topps Heritage set the insert set name was back to Chrome Purple Hot Box Refractor.
This year the parallel insert set is listed as: Chrome Hot Box Refractor. Purple isn't mentioned. I don't know where the 'Hot Box' designation comes from, Topps, Beckett, Cardboard Connection... I would assume Topps.
My point is that we are inconsistent. I don't know why the Hot Box name appears in the 2016 set and then disappeared until last year. It seems logical that it should have continued.
I also think this year's title should include the word Purple.
I'm not sure how sets are named and if this is an IR submittal worthy issue. Thoughts from the members?

"Hot Box" is used because these apparently come in bunches in a box (that's why the box is "hot").
I would be all for removing the term "Hot Box" from the name altogether (and putting that info as to how they were distributed into the Release Notes of the Purple Refractor set), as when one has one of these cards in hand, there is no mention of "hot box" on the card anywhere.
I am interested to see what others have to say about this as well.

Personally I'd like to see consistency for the set name also. IMO Hot Box does not need to be in the set name, but can be a release note. I think the same for Bowman's Mega Box set name designators. I'm sure Hot Box was used as that is what those in the Hobby were called the special boxes that these cards only came in. Of course, I could be wrong (nothing new there!), but Chrome Purple Refractor for all years seems right to me. Now, if the manufactirer specifically called them something, well...
Edit: Looks like Dan said what I was saying as I was typing....of course. :)

I just opened one of these "Hot" boxes, a Blaster Box (7 packs + 1 "Bonus" pack" for 2021 Topps Heritage Baseball. They were supposedly inserted 1 per case, but I have never found out how many boxes were in a case. I have seen anywhere from 16 to 40. I pulled 8 Purple Refractors (all duds) & a Deivi Garcia auto ( 1:226 packs - 1:28.25 Boxes).
I am all for consistency in the naming of these sets. I sent an IR to get the 1992 Super Donruss Diamonds changed to 1992 Donruss Diamond Jumbo so that the cards ( DKs ) would show up directly below the regular Donruss cards ( as they were for the 1994 Donruss DKs) on the Site Dan and I talked about it and it was determined that the Sets should remain as they were ( and I agree ). It turns out the "Real" problem was that the Black Gold Stars (Previews) and the regular Previews are listed as Donruss when the cards are clearly identified as Leaf (1992) on the front of the cards. If the sets were named as Leaf - Black Gold Stars and Leaf - Previews (with a note 2 of Found in Factory Sets). The problem of skipping around would be eliminated for these sets.

Totally agree,"Hot Box" should not be in the name. How a product was released should not be part of the set name; it should be in Release Notes.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Count me in as being in favor of consistency.

I completely agree that Hot Box should not be in the title. The insert parallel set name for all years should be Chrome Purple Refractor.

I love consistency. It bothers me that some chrome sets have "Aromic Refractors" listed as a parallel and other chrome sets they're just listed as "Atomic" and there's similar examples in other refractor naming conventions. Kind of a jumble

This is pretty funny. About 2 hours after my previous reply, I came across some of the 2016 Purple "Hot Box" listings as I was putting away the MANY Cardinals cards I've acquired since last July. I've been using the "haves" list on TCDB to make sure I am putting my cards in the albums in the same order that they show up in a list in here. If I hadn't received those 2 purple cards in a trade, it would have been really confusing trying to find out what they were. And seeing this thread during a break from adding cards to pages really helped speed up the process for adding them in the correct place b/c I already knew what they were when they showed up in the stack. BTW, my year-long process of adding all Cardinals cards acquired since then to my 13 albums is finally complete as of tonight. The current count is 8,117!
