That's because there is no scan in this thread.

He's saying that Ozzie and Vince Sample cards were NEVER produced. Any claimed Samples are counterfeit.

It may be removed by now, but there was an Ozzie Sample as the last card in the checklist when I looked this last night. There wasn't a scan in the forum because he didn't have one to scan. But there was a scan of the bootleg in the checklist.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I believe the Vince Coleman samples are legit. They are completely different than the Ozzie's that have surfaced. I have the Coleman samples. They came on a sheet with some attached perforated cards attached. The backs on the Colman samples are much different. I'll dig them up and get them scanned next time I get to scanning stuff. I think I've seen another similar one for another player (Worrell maybe) as. Seems that some samples were produced of other players , but he didn't make Ozzie samples.

The scans mentioned in my original post were on the original Facebook post from the Ozzie Super Secret Group. Private group so i didn't bother linking to it, since only members can access. I could probably download Wade's (the guy who did this research) pictures and share them here. It's just such a pain from the phone, so I'll have to break down and actually get the laptop out.

You stated in your original post that Mr. Kondritz stated he never produced Samples of either set.
" Wade, I am the person who produced the Ozzie Smith and Vince Coleman baseball card set. I did not send out sample cards to dealers nor did I ever produce sample cards."

Thank you, rmpaq5. That Ozzie sample does not look at all like the Vince samples. I also misunderstood the original post. I hadn't realized how much of that was still quoting an earlier thread. I thought the original poster of this thread was talking about scans. I didn't pay close enough attention to the quotation marks.
The Vince samples are printed, and judging from the cards owned in collections here, they are all numbers 5 and 7. It sounds like a different situation than the Ozzie set.

Ozzie Smith Kondritz Sample back
Ok the cards in question are normal set cards with "sample" stamped on the back. At some point some Coleman's surfaced similar to the Ozzie. That is set cards stamped "sample". Sometimes different cards from the set, and either stamped in red or black. These are the cards Wade is referring to in his post I copied. Mr Kondritz said he didn't make any sample cards like that that were sent to dealers.
the ones I have. Are something different all together. I believe they came from a yet to be documented Kondritz set. I have seen Kondritz cards featuring other Cardinals players. These Coleman "previews" are on a sheet with perforated edges where other cards were attached. The card is big enough for 4 cards but has the two Colman cards stacked vertically and centered with red border around. Cards could be cut out. The backs are not the same as set cards and have different graphics. Pretty sure I've seen a similar one for Worrell. I'll have to do some more research on what else Kondritz produced. I'm guessing these previews came with something released in 85, as I'm not aware of one for Ozzie which was released the following year. clear as mud now?

Coleman Front
Coleman Back
OK here's the Coleman samples I have. They are diffentent than the ones suspected to be fake. these appear to have come in Baseball Cards Magazine in spring of '86. I still think there are some more Kondritz cards out there to be documented. I swear I've seen a panel like this for Todd Worrell. I'm going to check my LCS next time i'm out there. Pretty sure there were more Kondritz cards in his Cardinals binder. I was bugging him for a while to see if he had any of the Ozzie ones somewhere in a binder. Should I list these as PROMO for the Coleman set?
