1950 Bowman Baseball Forum

Were these originally produced on white or tan card stock? I've been looking to buy a few, but am usually concerned when comparatively speaking some look much whiter than others in similar condition. The ones I own seem tan or yellowed by what I assumed was wear and handling.

Are you talking about the actual cardstock, which is only visilble on the backs, which is tannish. Or the paper layer used on the card fronts?  The paper layer on my card fronts is white.

The backs...here's what I'm talking about. Does the bottom one look authentic to you?

No it doesn't look authentic.  I went through all the Groth's on comc.com, all about the same as the top card.

The Groth is in indirect sunlight and is a photo and the Holmes is a scan. That's not really a good comparison. I wouldn't reject it based on this one photo. 

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going with my gut on the Groth, the one I've held off buying for a couple of years, and will continue looking for it. 

I actually bought the Groth a couple of weeks ago, but the vendor said he couldn't find it so he refunded my money. It's been about three weeks and I haven't seen him try to sell it at a higher price so I guess he was telling the truth.
