@SaintOrm - Thanks for those. PapaG's card definitely had the 2nd hologram. I don't know why UD put so much detail into the Comic Ball HG's. On those cards, the holograms are a dot smaller than the end of a Sharpie marker.
@ RJ - To each his own. From my seat, I have a ceiling light behind me. I can angle my hands just right to see the important part of the hologram continuously as I go through a stack. But the way they cut or placed the HG's changes, so sometimes an angle change is needed.

Those two images I submitted earlier in this thread are of the same card, shot at two different angles.
The "Comic Ball" foiling has a dual image in the background: one has the carrots & the other has several rows of "90 90 90 90"
The normal "hockey" foiling for that year has a much bigger, square-ish font "90" with crossed hockey sticks in the background.
I do not have any BASEBALL cards with this variant in my personal collection. I've only seen the Comic Ball foil on '90-91 UD Hockey cards. So it remains to be seen if Upper Deck also used it on their 1991 Baseball product.

I highly doubt it was used on the MLB cards. With a sample size of over 7K cards, I haven't seen a single one with the CB holo. And no one else has reported one so far.

1991 - What a year in our hobby lol. After looking at Topps, Bowman and OPC cards under a blacklight last week - my eyes are straining looking at UD cards this week under a desk lamp.

~ Patrick Please Please Please read my profile before making a trade proposal. My "wants" for my Cardinals collection is accurate from 1900 - 2008. I still have about 12,000Plus Cardinals cards from 2009-present to sort through and enter. Please do not offer any Cardinals cards from 2008-present unless you contact me first as there is a chance I already have it amongst the multitude to still go through. I still have about 30K Cardinals duplicates that are not yet entered in the database as FS/FT. "For the love of the game"

Those are printing errors as the cards were supposed to have the holograms. They will not be listed here.

I have a #217 Hubie Brooks card with a hologram that has "Upper Deck" written near the top and bottom, and two upside down "90"s in the middle. I know there's no variations for #217 listed but what variation would this even be? Doesn't seem like the 1990 Upper Deck "Baseballs" versuin nor the 1990 Crossed Hockeysticks version. Thanks for insight!

The "hockey sticks" is much harder to figure out (or see) than the "90" in the holograms. If you see a large 90 in the hologram, it's definitely the NHL hologram. The "90" is the largest feature on any hologram from Upper Deck. Only the 1992 "UD Diamond Logo" is as big or as obvious as the "90"!

I found a Randy Johnson with the "Comic Ball", so it did get used. I went through a couple 5000ct boxes. I got 1 comic ball, about 100 1990's, and around dozen hockey's. They have 3 more boxes for me to search, but the spot is a couple hours away. Probably go get some more in a couple weeks.
