1988 CCC 1887 Allen & Ginter (N28/N29) Reprint (Baseball Only) Baseball Forum

These were produced by "Card Collector Company" as can be seen when you search the set and look at images (found them on ebay). Should this set be renamed "Card Collector Company 1887 Allen & Ginter's World Champions Baseball Only Reprint"? Haven't found a date yet (aside from 80s) for when they were first produced (will keep looking) but right now they turn up as produced in 1887. My guess for a date would be 1988 as that is when they produced other tobacco era reprints.

I leave the naming to the baseball experts, but here's the original set

1887 The World's Champions (N28)

There were two World's Champions sets issued by Allen & Ginter the first in 1887 (N28) and the second in 1889 (N29). Both sets contained 50 cards. There were 10 baseball players in the first set (often referred to as the 1st series) and 6 baseball players in the second set.

Do we really need "Company" in set names?   We don't use "Topps Chewing Gum Company" or their current name "Topps Company Inc."  Nor "Fleer Corporation", "Upper Deck Company", "Panini America Inc.", "Pinnacle Brands", etc.

Yes Set names as always been an issue with me.  I just wish they would be the same.  Football   Absolute or Playoff Absolute or Panini Absolute.   I have issues with my database (excel file)  when I try to sort for a player with a Absolute card.
