2017 Topps Allen & Ginter Baseball Forum

I opened up my box of 2017 A&G from the LCS like i do every year and didnt notice anything strange at first as all the cards were the same and the oval center portrait had a foil like sheen.  it wasnt until i went on TCDB to see who might be a likely trading partner that i noticed the scans looked different from my cards and i then realized that my box was one of the Foil Hot Boxes that are supposed to be falling 1 per case.  My problem is do i try to complete the foil set or the base set since i have about 40% of the foil set from this one box or do i just go for the base set and trade off the hot box cards (including the Judge Rookie).  Plus i am more interested in all of the mini sets than the full size set.  What would you do?

NOrmally a "HOT" Box is a good thing. IN your case I guess it depends on how much you like the foil parallels. Personally I am extrememly tired of all foil cards so I wouldn't go for the foil version. Collecting the full foil version would be a bit more difficult than the regular base set. Also short prints might be a factor. IF you are a Yankees fan then keep the Judge. At this point selling the Judge card on Ebay or another auction site would be very rewarding.Right now his cards are GOLD and are great for sellers to put up for auction. For set collectors trying to find his card to finish the set is a royal pain right now. Eventually his cards will level off, and might even dip down in value that will depend on his future performance, and when another super phenom appears on the scene.

i looked and the Judge foil version is selling in the 30-35$ range on Ebay right now, though i would probably go with COMC as i could use the money for many cards i have my eye on there. though i would probably offer it here first to see if there were any lucrative trade offers available. Its hard being at the 40% complete mark and knowing it would probably be a long time and alot of money to complete the other 60% of the set.  Will have to think about it over the weekend.
