I have a 1986 Donruss Highlights #39 Doug DeCinces - White Letter - Variation that isn't listed. Uploading this here so I can put in a request to add it to the set. (Note: I previsously submitted a IR 240284).
Looks like the entire highlights set is available in white letters (except the checklist). Found a link on Beckett.

Thanks!

Just so members can see what you're talking about. It's the lettering in the "Highlights" logo. Since these were released as factory sets, I would call them a parallel not a variation. Unless a mix of both versions were found inside a factory set.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Isn't this a printing error with only a few sets getting out?

The logo and other common elements very well could have been a separate printing process with separate plates. And these just missed a step.

Yeah I see the diagonal stripes are missing the color too. That's why I'm wondering if this is allowed to be listed if we're following the rules about print flaws. From what I've seen elsewhere, people opened whole cases of box sets without receiving any of these cards.

Would be interested in other thoughts on this as well - I've always considered the white Highlights cards true variations.

Can't we just put a mention in the release notes that a variation exists and a description of what it looks like rather than creating whole checklist?

Already mentioned in the Trivia section:
https://www.tcdb.com/Trivia.cfm/sid/14202/1986-Donruss-Highlights
We had an IR in about these a while back, but the submitter did not answer the questions I posed/ and so it was closed without further action or research.
The color that is missing from both the Highlights letters and the stripes above & below the nameplate is the same color. It looks to me like this was simply a missed color during the print process (i.e., print flaw, not eligible for a listing here).

I agree. Looks like just a printing glitch (missed step). And with only 56 cards they probably had 2 sets per sheet.
