We had a long thread about card prices and "trickery" etc but this seems to be a regular, non-graded, non-auto base and there are no buzz words in the title nor description. I'm curious if I am late on some info here... oddly I just pulled a new, old stock version ( without the ".") -ha and looked out of curiosity and this is the 1st sold that appeared on eBay.

   Any input abt this auction is appreciated- (btw I know my card isn't an expensive card) just curious and figured there'd be more laughs if nothing else.

Definitely nothing unique as he seems to be trying to unload his late 80s early 90s sets. And trying to score off the VAR. Even his DVD prices are horribly high especially shipping which are much cheaper using media rates with the USPS.

You've not missed anything.

We are living in some very unprecedented times and while I can't guess how things are in the USA as I haven't been there in going on what nearly 2 years.

Prices on many things here in Canada have skyrocketed, housing, the materials to build housing, gas=shipping, food etc

It seems there isn't an industry that hasn't seen at least a 50% increase, aside from what we in the card world already know and have encountered as well in the ways of plastics and even cardboard boxes not to mention the cards and their msrp's which seemingly no longer exist.

Salaries while not necessarily increasing accordingly have increased as well, operating anything costs are up soooooooo

Can we blame them for trying NO, we are used to seeing these types of cards for a dime or 18 cents maybe moving forward the new norms will be $1.00 for what used to be 0.18 especially now that it's hard to get even a "junk" box for 5$ or 10$

Will there still be those selling these cards at 10 and 18c YES

I've seen this a lot on eBay. Usually sellers with little or no feedback listing "error" or "rare" cards for outrageous prices, with the hope someone will bite. Sometimes people do bite.

Often there are multiple listings of the same card by multiple sellers (again with little or no feedback). All at high prices, with the exception of one of the listings. This listing is usually 25-50% lower than the rest. So a buyer snaps this one up feeling they got a great deal.

I've even seen this happen with a reputable seller listing the same card for .99¢ (as it should be). Its a scam I've reported to eBay a few times, but they don't seem to get it.

As the old saying goes, a fool and his money are soon parted.

Also, I would suggest that this website may be a major contributor to this nonsense, as I never noticed people selling so many Inc "errors" on eBay until we started listing them here.

Yeah- this is pretty much what we all discussed on a thread that I believe was titled "Real World Prices versus...(something) and we all weighed in but I was apprehensive in making the comment re:Donruss set "variations" as I honestly never saw any listing until this site changed them. The exception are the 1992 Topps cards that have two different red pigments on the back but I don't think anyone pointed out that for whatever reason, the cards with the "darker back variation" are actually black light/ultraviolet sensitive and the ink pops with a long or shortwave torch. I don't think it was meant to be a variation but I suppose that title is as good as any other since people noticed the difference and wanted to categorize them. I actually found the ink on accident when working and found 1 or 2 obscure online posts about 4 or 5 years ago about it.

   I digress- but understand people will sell what there is a demand for and that for consumers a little bit of knowledge can be just enough to cost a lot of money. That said, I am preparing to sell a lot of my collection for the first time and figured this one was fair enough to ask about since it was odd that no "bait" or error claims were in the listings...
