1990 Donruss Baseball Forum

Hi folks, I posted this on the set page but I wonder how many are actually following that discussion.

Many of the cards in that set come with the inc. or inc variations and then there is a variation listed talking about black lines on the back.  For the life of me I can't see the difference between the images posted with the set - are the images correct that are posted for each variation? Better yet can someone point me to an image which explains that black lines variation? 

As I posted in my response to your previous post earlier today about the black line, the black line error is on the front of the card, not the back.

"The error is on the front. Look at the J in the 3 scans; you'll see that 2 have a black line going through it and the 3rd shows the J completely in white, no line intruding."

And I'm moving this to the 1990 Donruss page. It doesn't belong in the General area as it's specifically about only 1 set.

Hi folks, so I misunderstood the description  - the front or back is not specified in the description of this variation (of course I realize there is limited room).

There was room for it to have "on front" in the description, so I added it to all 4 Morris cards.

Hello,

You have been identified and someone with at least 1 card in your collection, want list, or the for sale/for trade list for the 1990 Donruss baseball set. This message is to serve as a notice that all known versions of the cards have now been added to the checklist.

The variations occur on both sides of the cards. The copyright info has "LEAF INC" (no period after INC) or it has "LEAF INC." (with a period after INC). Also, on the front, the "splatter pattern" changes on all (or almost all) cards between the cards printed for packs and the cards printed for the factory sets. Additionally, only some of the double-printed cards had a third "splatter pattern" variation. On top of that, there were several cards issued with error and corrected versions. Some were corrected for the pack versions, while others were only corrected once they printed the cards for the factory sets. Even though this allows for potentially 7 variations, the most discovered were 6 for any one card (and the was the Baines All-Star card because of multiple errors).

Unlike the recent update to 1989 Donruss, there is no consistency to what will be [a], [b], or [c]. All Note2 fields will be descriptive and we have a member who opened a factory set for research who will also be providing scans for the entire factory set (to help with the visuals).

However, just like the effort with 1989 Donruss, we assembled a small committee to visually verify what has been added to the database. If you have one of the cards that was not previously visually verified by the team, please add a message to the forum thread which is located here. Folow the directions in that first post or feel free to use that to ask any questions.

Due to this addition to the checklist, your collection info was defaulted over to being all version [a]. You will probably need to update your collection information to reflect what you truly have.
