We have an inaccuracy report in on this set. Apparently, the all cards in the set have 2 versions. On the reverse, in the lower left, there is either 1 asterisk or 2 asterisks. That is the difference.
We can handle this 1 of 2 ways:
- Two sets ("Art Inserts 1 Asterisk" and Art Inserts 2 Asterisks")
- One set, each card has 2 variations
Opinions, please.

One set, two variations.
Crap....I have a lot of these cards on my trade list. I'm having flashbacks to the 1990 Topps Football set. Same issue with the 1,000 Yard Club insert from that set. I had to split that set apart when that variation was brought to my attention. I hate that set.
In the case of 1990 Topps football we listed them as two sets, which is why I say one set with variation. In the case of the 1990 football set, I have recieved the wrong card in a trade more times than I count because some members aren't aware that there is a difference. I think one checklist with a VAR could alleviate that.
In reality, its not that important to me. Other than the fact that I will have to dig mine out and check.

I'm in the two sets school. If every card has the variation it should be listed as a separate set.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

One set, two variations. There's additional variations that affect only the Gooden and Clark cards.
Gooden can be found with $110,000 missing or included on both * and **
Clark ** can be found with a broken first asterisk or missing first asterisk (it's right shifted from the * version) in addition to the full **

I'm with cl Kyle. I also don't care that much. But if I did, I wouldn't want the site telling me I had 50% of two different sets if I had each card, but half *, and half **. Then again, I treat parallels as variations too, so the site % is never accurate for me anyway!

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Does that mean the Tiffany ones have both variations too? I know the Yount Tiffany Art Card in my collection has the double asterik.

This wasn't about the Tiffany set, only the base one that came in packs.

I'm with Chad on this. One set with variations. That '90 Topps Football along with the 1000 Yard Club cards was the first set I inventoried on TCDB and had to redo various times due to the disclaimer and asterisks. Even now I cringe when someone asks for those cards as I have to check and double check to make sure I've logged them correctly. Aaaaaaargh! It gives me a headache just thinking about it in two sets. I was one of those who traded cards without knowledge of the variations, until it was pointed out to me.
Either way for those of us who lean toward accuracy, it'll mean a bit more work logging information.
By the way I just so happened to have added some of these to my Want List yesterday. Please make sure I get the right variation!
