1999 Topps Baseball Forum

According to Baseballcardpedia, the backs of the Factory set cards face a different way than the pack cards. Is this correct? If so, are the different versions listed, as i don't see them?

I just went through a hand compiled set I've had sitting on a shelf for about 18 years. I noticed 10 of these variations, with the flipped reverse. They were all from Series 1, none from Series 2.

1 (Clemens), 13, 34 (Ryan), 62 (Vlad), 84, 85 (Jeter), 95 (Pedro), 96, 143, 174

I don't remember how I acquired it, most likely ebay or a card show. I also don't know which version is which. The majority of the cards I have, when flipped, need to be turned 90° ccw for proper rear orientation. The other 10 need to be turned 90° cw for proper orientation.

I was wondering if anyone has been able to verify that factory sets have the backs reversed? Like Baseballcardpedia says they are. If they are, shouldn't they be listed? Like the 1987 Donruss are.

I have a Chrome version of the Curt Schilling 385, I don't see a place to add it. Can anyone advise?

Here's the thing how whould you know which was which unless you had both in your hand.  And there would be no difference in the scans on the site. I mean look at 2020 Update, what a cluster those backs are.

 I have an unopened 1999 Topps Factory set Inc. Series 1&2 - 462 cards total and was debating on opening it- I know this is an older thread but if the questions are still there I am happy to open... in the name of trading card scientific testing of course :)

I have opened 2 1999 Topps Factory Sets. (the blue box and the series 1 and 2 retail set boxes)

Both sets yielded the same 10 cards mentioned above with the backs reversed from the rest of the set.  1 (Clemens), 13, 34 (Ryan), 62 (Vlad), 84, 85 (Jeter), 95 (Pedro), 96, 143, 174.

The factory set came in a 3rd flavor, a white box with a bonus Ryan Finest Reprint bonus card (referred to as the Christmas factory set). I will see if that factory set is any different.

I don't have alot of 1999 Topps cards from packs, but the backs match the direction in their factory set counterparts.

If the 3rd set is exactly the same, I feel like there is likely no difference between factory set and pack card backs.

The 3rd factory set yielded the exact same results, the same 10 Series 1 cards had the backs different from the rest of the set and the rest of the set matched my 1999 topps cards from packs. 

Same deal with mine.
