1983 Donruss Zero Heroes Non-Sport Forum

We are trying to get this set cleaned up a little. And we are looking for some input.

The total cards shown is 66. However, the checklist is skip numbered by 8 numbers. There are 8 NNO’s at the bottom of the checklist. There is nothing official that I could find that indicates that these 8 are intended to replace the missing numbers. Collectors have made that assumption though.

One idea is to reduce total cards to 58. Add a release note indicating a skip numbered checklist. Add the 8 NNO’s as a Related Set, with its own checklist there.

This started when we were pondering adding General Mills to the checklist title as Donruss is on not printed on any of the numbered cards (I have them all to verify). Only from the wrapper, link below, would you know they are Donruss. The NNO’s have no manufacturer noted.

Note that the wrapper says “63 Stickers”. I guess that would be a UER.

Any thoughts?

I can see how people are making that assumption tha tthere is 66 cards. The back of the card, outside the NNOs, says "## of 66". Doing my own quick search I found that one of the NNOs is being listed as #15 (one of the skipped numbers). Of course, on the same page the same item is being sold as a NNO. Anyhow, the front of the box shows the Z Team card, a NNO one, front and center. This leads me to believe that it is meant to be part of the 66. And with that the rest of the 66 would be too. Wierd choice if they did it that way, but it was 1983....

This sounds confusing...I got the one and only card from this set I wanted so I don't have any real thoughts on how it should be done. Aside from that, I'll gladly approve any IRs needed to fix the set however it's seen fit to do so.

I bought that set for a few bucks about a year ago just to add the images to the database. The set I bought had handwritten numbers on the backs of the 8 NNO cards, which I noted in Note2. I have no idea why they skipped some of the numbers, but the numbered cards do say xx of 66 so I would argue they're all one set instead of two.  If there's no consensus on how to assign the skipped numbers to particular NNO cards I don't object to listing them at the end of the checklist, but I don't see the merit in listing them as a separate set.

I completely agree with HutNut here. Without some kind of proof (like a printed CL from Donruss), we can't assume any of the NNO's are any specific card number. Those 8 should be numbered NNO and moved to the bottom of the set CL.
