I was going through and organizing some of my 1988 Donruss cards and had a stack of the checkilists setting aside seperately, remembering that there were variations in the 1988 Donruss checklists. I have a factory set . I went to check the website and there are no checklist variations listed anymore. Example:
Factory Set card #100 - 28-133
Variation card #100 - 28-137
Factory Set card #200 - 134-239
Variation card #200 - 138-247
And the rest follow the pattern. Am I missing where they are listed on the site? I have scans for the variations.

I wasn't involved in making any changes but my guess is this has something to do with the Factory Set getting listed as a parallel set to the regular '88 Donruss set. That way you get one of each version, e.g.
Factory Set card #100 - 28-133
Variation card #100 - 28-137
(and both of those do already have scans)
Do those corresond to what you were looking for?

That looks to be the pattern. I did not even see that. Good catch and thanks for the clarification.

While forum reading, I stumbled on the 1988 DONRUSS forum again. To make sure we are all on the same page.
Because there is no real border pattern difference but back text differences, OUR BEST BET IS TO MATCH OUR CARDS TO WHAT the site shows for both sets. Pack Set and Factory Set.
Is the site up to date and correct? Regarding each card's scans. So it is safe to match up the cards with site scans. Just Making sure!

Bob, you should be good to go. Lugnut80 did a lot of work on getting the right scans in the right spots for this set.

Just getting around to looking at my '88 Donruss I've acquired. So, if I'm understanding correctly, the way to tell whether you have retail or factory is to look at the back of the card and compare to the images here? I'm assuming that if it means the back text matches the main set then I don't have to look at the factory set. Is this correct?

All New York Yankees cards are welcome to join my collection. I'm also interested in recreating my main childhood collection, which consisted of mostly 1974 and 1978-1982.

The simple way to tell is by looking at the front or back as each ends in a different card number. card #'s 100 for Ex. 28-79 front/80-137 back for the hand set and 28-77 front/78-133 back for the factory. I
