I came across a couple of the cards that I thought were part of this set, but instead of the change in the bottom note, I think I have something different. These say "An Exhibit Card 1980 Hall Of Fame". My couple of cards say '"An Exhibit Card 1980". I looked into this a little more and saw a little history.
I found a note in an eBay sale that says "Following the purchase of the Exhibit Supply Company by a collector in the late 70’s,a 32 card set of Exhibits was issued in 1980 by using photos from earlier issues. There were only a total of 7,500 sets released,2,500 each with cards tinted red, blue or brown."
From this I was able to compile a checklist of what I have, but wanted to check with someone that may know a little more about these than what I was able to figure out before I upload a checklist. Here are a couple of my questions.
I think this Hall of Fame set and this other set were issued in the same way. From the couple of scans posted, I think the Hall of Fame listing would have to have two parallel sets added for a total of three checklists; one each for Red, Blue and Brown/Sepia. My question would be, which one should be the base checklist and which two should be the parallel sets?
I can add the 1980 Exhibit set and checklist to the database, but wanted to know the same question about the base vs. parallel sets. But my additional question would be if this set would be treated like a different series. Similar to the Series 1 and Series 2 we see in the current Topps sets. Should my checklist be added to the end of the Hall of Fame set or should it be added as its own entry?
Now I think I can guess the answers to these questions, but since I am quite new at this process, I thought to just toss it out there before it would have to be redone.
Thanks, Brian
