2015 Topps Heritage '51 Baseball Forum

This set seems like a pretty cool tribute to the 1951 Topps set with all 104 cards in a single series.  Has anyone started collecting these?  What are your thoughts?

I have only briefly seen them, and they do look intriguing!

I've ordered the 2 Royals players (Eric Hosmer and Johnny Cueto) for my collection, base cards and the minis.  They haven't arrived so I can't really comment.  Not the 2 players I would have picked, especially since Cueto is/was only a "rental" but I gave up trying to understand Topps a long time ago.  The cards I've seen on eBay look nice enough. I'm not sure what the mini card dimensions are.  I wish they had included a couple more Royals players in the set, but having only 2 saved me a few bucks.  I'm also not sure why Topps thought it was necessary to have 8 Red Sox players in the set.  

I am in love with this set, not because I pulled a Noah Syndergard 3/5 auto, but because they feel right. The stock and the weight are just awesome. The minis are just the same dimensions as the original 51 which I'm collecting currently. 

Have a few of the originals my dad gave me. Curious about this set now.

A complete set of the Redbacks is probably my biggest baseball card purchase ever, circa 1994, at a live auction. It was fun and a great deal. I have exactly one Blueback. Until about 2014, they were the oldest cards in my collection, so I love them. Tons of Hall of Famers, too.

I'm not into the Heritage sets, and find this set a curious choice for a Heritage set, given that the 1951s seem generally hated by collectors and are barely recognized by those in the hobby. I swear I owned a Beckett's price guide that didn't even include the 1951 Topps sets. Regardless, these look kind of fun. I hope they're made with the same thick stock as the originals. Sounds like I'd prefer the minis, which are the size of the originals. If you're going to do a Heritage set, match the stock and size....
