Saw that NBA Legend Wes Unseld died today. One of only two people to win MVP and Rookie of the Year in the same year in NBA History, named one of the NBA's 50 Greatest players, and perhaps the most iconic Washington Bullets player ever. After retiring from playing was team GM, VP and coach.

I am bummed. He was a childhood fave from my Homie Bullets. One of my fave players from a sport that I had long ago slipped away from than went back to a few years ago (as many have done with their collecting, leaving it for a while then returning) I was shocked when I saw his picture in the "In Memoriam" section o the database main page. I then looked to see if the news had hit social media or any media but it had not at that point. Looks like CNN "Breaking News" still hasn't gotten around to it. (at 11:10 am Tuesday 02 June) My local NBC 4 station fortunately has something:

I still need his Rookie card among several ofhers. I will gladly accept Unseld cards as consolation while I am mourning the passing of a childhood sports hero.

Always looking for Blackhawk hockey, Notre Dame Football, White Sox and Bears Stuff. I have a plaque in my card room that says, "I could have been a millionaire but my mom threw out my baseball cards". How apropos!!! Collecting Chicago Blackhawks Hockey, Doug Wilson Hockey, Chicago Bears Older, Notre Dame Football in their college jerseys and Chicago White Sox.

He was my favorite of the Bullets of late 70s when they went to back to back finals, winning one of them.
