John Altobelli and his wife and daughter were also on board. Altobelli was the baseball coach at Orange Coast College for the last 28 years, amassing over 700 wins.

My sports apps from Yahoo to CBS have been giving me notices. on my smartphone since about 3:01 pm starting with DK Live then CBS Sports app with an update at 3:47. It depends on where you get it. Black Mamba will be missed. Geez, I just picked up his rookie card three weeks ago from the LCS and the owner of store died last weekend. It seems at this point for me 𝐋ife is taking more than it's giving. I've been watching reports most of the evening.

I'm glad someone else mentioned Coach Altobelli. I listened to an interview with him a few months back that completely changed my life, and continues to do so. That's a huge loss for the baseball world, even if he isn't well known. Sad to hear that his wife and daughter were both on board as well, according to the ESPN alert I received.
The loss of Kobe is unreal. Hard to believe, really, and I'm not even a basketball fan. I can't really say much at this point because, to be honest, I don't have the words for it. Prayers and comfort to those directly affected by this tragedy, and may all of the souls lost rest in peace.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

The last time I saw him was on TV on Christmas. He was sitting court side with his daughter. They were watching the Lakers play the Clippers. I can't fathom the terror that they endured today. I hope they didn't suffer. I cried a little bit during the Knicks broadcast. Mike Breen was crying too. A lot of the fans were crying. Today was horrible.

John Altobelli isn't in the database. But there is a card for J.J. Altobelli, John's son and a current Red Sox scout.

Unfortunately, there is also an ebay link from a member here to a Kobe RC that went up less than 15 minutes after the news broke. The card was started at 8 cents and has climbed to $26.00. But some of those bids look fishy to me and that member has absolutely nothing listed in their profile here (and not a new member either).
The video link posted earlier in this thread probably had more info about the specific situation of the flight than anything else I've seen on TV or the internet all day! Thanks for linking that RJ.

Unfortantly this is a common thing when some one famous dies. I rember a few years ago when Merlin Olsen died a bunch of his cards were llisted mentioning his death in the title.
