Passed away today at the age of 86. Never got to see him play, but he was one of the best 3rd basemen in the game

What sad news. I never saw him play either but I've heard stories and seen highlights.
One of the best fielders the game has ever seen.

Sad day. I was born and raised in Baltimore and he was a big part of my baseball childhood. I was at his retirement ceremony at Memorial Stadium with my dad in 1977. Good times.

Yes, what sad news. Like Ed, never got to see him play as he was before my time, but I did get to meet him in person once back home in our native Arkansas. He was mentored by George Kell, another Arkansan and baseball Hall of Fame third baseman. A gentleman and an Oriole legend, he will be sorely missed by the baseball community around the globe. Brooks, may you rest in peace while manning the "hot corner" above. Thank you for all you have done for the sport.

Growing up in Ohio I hated him for what he did to Cincinnati in the 1970 World Series. I am sorry for this sad news as he was one of the top five 3rd basemen ever.

My brother just texted me with this news. He was before my time but as a Marylander and lifelong Oriole fan he was certainly a legend. My Dad only talked about a few players that he thought were extraordinary and Brooks was one of them!

Aw man. His 1961 Topps card was the first "vintage" card I ever got. I bought it when I was about 11-12 for $7 at a card show in Baton Rouge, LA way back in the late 80s. RIP!

I am sorry to hear of his passing. Brooks Robinson was one of the greatest third basemen to play the game. He will be missed. May Brooks Robinson rest in peace.

Truly one of the greatest third basemen to ever play the game. I remember watching him on TV during the 1971 World Series and throughout the ‘70s, as the Orioles made the playoffs in ‘73 and ‘74. I always thought it was cool the way he cut the bill of his batting helmet to just an inch or two.
