As I mourn Victor Oladipo leaving Pacers, for Caris LeVert and a 2nd round pick, I thought maybe it would be cool to have a "new teams" feature on the home page, showing guys who have moved recently. Kind of like the dead guys section, but different. Showing their profile card, naturally. Which would also put more actual cards on the home page, which is always an improvement. It would also likely motivate people to keep rosters updated on the team pages. Is this worth my suggesting, or not? You guys like technical stuff. I like looking at pictures of cards.
P.S. dont tell me where to suggest an addition. I know all that. Just seeking input.
I was exicited when I read this thinking Oladipo would be coming to the Nets...then I went and read the details. This is a terrible move for the Nets. You will like LeVert. He's not as skilled as Oladipo but maybe he could be. The Nets have been pretty bad about developing talent. We had two that we were starting to develop and both went out the door in this trade. Now we have two of the biggest whiners to show for it. (granted, Irving was already here)
Such a disappointment. I'm glad hockey's back because my desire to watch the Nets going forward is now lower than it's ever been.
Billy, I'll sure give him a chance. Vic was just a lot of fun to watch though. But admittedly, I dont watch sports nearly as much as I used to. It just isnt quite the same with empty arenas. I'm sure I'll get back into it though, eventually.
On that feature request, one issue is the Team Roster feature isn't always updated in a timely manner, so unless users are keeping up with every signing, trade and release on a daily basis, it may not always reflect current transactions. There are plenty of examples in the database where teams have little to no current roster, so if someone added players to them tonight, the proposed page would show them as just signing with the team even though they've been there for a while, maybe even years.
Looking at the Change Log, it makes it seem like they're an expansion team.
It would be much easier to update rosters if we could update Current Team directly from the player's profile page, but that feature request hasn't been approved for discussion and voting (that I know of?)

I really don't follow NBA much, but seeing that Harden got traded from the Rockets to the Nets was quite interesting to me. Does that restore your faith a bit, Billy? I agree that ALL sports are a little harder to care about with no fans in some stadiums/arenas/racetracks and thousands of fans in other stadiums/arenas/racetracks. It makes things seem more one-sided. Home teams with no fans allowed tend to lose more often now than they did with fans present. In the NFL last weekend, the home team #3 and #4 seeds ALL LOST! Both #2's (Buffalo and New Orleans with fans) beat the visiting #7 teams. The #3 Steelers have mostly been in a downward spiral after starting 11-0, so I wasn't surprised to see them lose to Cleveland. I was surprised by the Seahawks losing at home to the Rams though. Apparently, Seattle's "12th man" (the fans) is a real thing and they just didn't have enough of them there on Saturday. I'm really curious to see what the Super Bowl looks like fan-wise!
I can't wait to see stadiums, arenas and racetracks full of fans again! I hope that happens during the summer. I really don't think it will happen before then. The pandemic ended my 5-year streak of attending a NASCAR race. I could have gone to either of the last 2 in my area but the tickets prices were jacked up and the risk seemed too high. I was really happy that I didn't buy tickets for the Martinsville, VA race last October when I saw on TV how they sat the people. It didn't matter what tickets you bought, they put everyone in only 7 sections on the frontstretch. I understand WHY they did that (to cut down on sanitizing the entire stands afterwards), but I'd have rather been more spaced out than that. Plus, that is a long way from my usual seats in Turn #3.
As for the roster thing, I really don't think we have enough people that would update that frequently. Maybe once a week at best for the more popular teams and other teams would only get updated once a year or longer. I think it is a good idea, but I just don't think it would be up-to-date most of each year in any sport.

I'm happy with Cleveland's part in this trade, getting Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince for Dante Exum (a fourth guard, at best) and the Milwaukee Bucks' first round pick in 2022. But this likely signals the end for Andre Drummond in Cleveland, and it's also hard to see both Prince and Cedi Osman finishing the season with the Cavs.
Back to the core of the forum, excellent idea Switzr, as for updating, somebody is always updating the death section. Maybe adding a current (or last) team entry for players when entering them, then it can be changed by a certain permissions level. Its worth adding to the list David for sure.
