Selflishly I'd like to see him try to push for 714+ next season. He's playing well enough to consider it, maybe he'll change his mind on retirement. Without covid, maybe he would have had some sort of shot at chasing Bonds.
Its been fun to see him get to 700 and have a rejuvinated season at the tailend of his career.

Very happy for him. What a tremendous accomplishment.
I wonder what the fan who caught the ball is going to ask for it. I heard talk that the home run ball for #697, passing A-Rod, was possibly worth as much as half a million.

Right! I don't watch the Cardinals much even though I get Bally Midwest, yet I watched the entire series against the Padres to see him hit one. After a busy day I get home to find out it was an Apple exclusive, then find out he hit 699. I was so mad. Then he hit 700! I was (um... much harder word than mad). I really wish he'd reconsider about retirement for one more year, but its the perfect time to do it with Yadi and Waino retiring. While I never want St. Louis to win a World Series, I would actually be happy if they could do it this year as one final sendoff.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster. |
