Shocking news in the world of boxing as a true athlete has left us.
For those who grew up in the 80's, Marvin Hagler's classic bouts against the likes of Thomas Hearns and Sugar Ray Leonard were the stuff fans of the sport lived to see. He never disappointed both in and out of the ring.
RIP to the 'Marvelous' one.

The frst fight I ever remember watching was Marvin Hagler v. Sugar Ray Leonard with my grandfather. It opened up the world of boxing to me and started a tradition of me going to his house for all the fights to watch with him for decades until he passed. Boxing always makes me think of him and Hagler's name always makes me remember that first fight.

I really thought he got a raw deal on the fight with Sugar Ray Leonard. They were both great middle weight fighters. But I thought he edged Sugar Ray out.

Totally agree. Not only was that my first fight, but the first time I had to question judges. We thought Hagler won that fight.

Hagler won the fight. But, he lost the last 10 seconds of almost every round. Which impressed the judges, making them lean towards giving each round to Leonard. Back then, this was the fight that made people question the scoring system in boxing.

Not really a fight fan, but I could not help but notice the hype and promotion for "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler fights. It's a boxing name that every sports fan in the 70's-90's knows, from reading the sports page, and watching the sports news on tv.
RIP Marvelous Marvin

Dang another great one gone. I saw that fight too with my dad. They just don't do it like that anymore. I read on boxer Thomas Hearns twitter page that Hagler was "fighting the after-effects of the vaccine." a few days back and now I find he lost that fight. When will people learn that emergency use is not considered a fully tests vaccine? It's crazy another 5 countries have stopped the shots last week because of deaths. But we keep shooting people up with it and the so-called news says nothing.
It's odd to be at the age where all the people you looked up to as a kid slowly died off. but most of us get there.
R.I.P. Marvelous Marvin Hagler ...

I'd love to see some of the movies he made when he retired after he beat lost to Ray Leonard.
