David Pearson Forum

NASCAR lost a huge name today. David Pearson is considered by many to be the best there ever was. One of only two to ever clear the 100 win mark, Pearson only ran a full schedule 4 times- and won the championship 3 times, placing second the other. One of the great mysteries of the sport is what he could have accomplished if he ran a full schedule for his entire career. I never got to see him in action- he retired when I was 2 years old. 

He suffered a stroke several years ago and from what I heard never fully recovered. :(

I was lucky enough to pull these cards, from the same box, on Christmas Day 2006.

Just saw that he died during a live stream. He was one of the best.

R.I.P. Silver Fox! I was too young late in his career to know much about him. But I've learned much about him over the years since then. He was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2011 as part of the second class. If I'm not mistaken, he has the highest winning percentage in the history of the top level of NASCAR (105 wins in 574 races). Richard Petty (all-time wins leader at 200) said many years ago that the greatest driver he ever raced against was Pearson. That's high praise from the "King"!

If Panini is smart, they will do some kind of Tribute to him in the 2019 Donruss product (or whatever their first release will be for 2019)!

I just found out on Ray Evernham's Twitter that we also lost Frankie Schneider as well. Although not well known to casual fans, he is a hall of fame level talent as well.
