Not sure if it is true today because the NFL is something to watch if nothing on. But there was a time years back it did.
If you were not drafted by end of the first day in draft (Was like round 4 or 5) you didn't want to get drafted as you could get more on a free agent contract then if you got drafted and a team had your rights. Oh the years of the draft being 17 rounds
