Heard today the Dale Hawerchuk passed away. He was one of the all time Canadian greats. I used to change his Oil on his car when he lived just outside of Orangeville. He always had big smiles and great hockey stories. Condolences to his family and friends. He will be missef

Yeah, I heard that. It really sucks. Cancer sucks and 57 is way too young. For what I heard is it was a reccurence.
He was so appreciated that some Quebec guys named their band The Dale Hawerchuk and their main hit was also a song called Dale Hawerchuk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbZqFTVozzs

I believe he was recently a RCOTD. I really like Dale. he was a great Sabre during some very exciting years and was one of the better players from my childhood memories in the 80's. RIP to a great player.

That's horribly too young to die. He'd been battling stomach cancer for quite a while and it (or some other cancer) came back soon after. He was a legend around my neck of the woods when growing up as a young phenom. He apparently attended my elementary school years before my time.
I missed out on the prime of his career, but by all accounts he was rather impressive as a Jet and was obviously rewarded for it with a Hockey Hall of Fame induction. By the time I was regularly watching hockey, he was a Flyer. He never won the Cup, but was in the Finals that year.

I just heard this today while I was watching the Flyers play. Prayers to his family during this sad time. 57 is way to young.
