Anyone have any suggestions for a free video editing program for Windows? Something that isn’t filled with ads and is pretty basic in function? I discovered Photoscape here which I use for pictures. I have used Audacity in the past for audio editing. Anything for video that would be similar to these?

I use PlayMemories that came with my video camera. I wouldn't mind finding a better program.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Fails the "basic in function" but DaVinci Resolve is a great free piece of software that compares to Adobe Premier. Overkill for what you are looking for but figured I should at least mention it. I'd be curious to see what others recommend on the simple side of things.

If you have a Windows PC, I believe there is video editing software in the Photos application. I'm not near my PC at the moment (I'm on a Mac), but I have edited video in the past with the software that comes with Windows. Once I'm near my PC, I can give you more details if needed.

Oops! I'm at my PC now. The app is called "Photos" and there is a video editor in that. Here's a YouTube video on it:

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure it'll be as user-friendly or have the features you'd like, but I think VirtualDub may also be a good option to consider. I've used Audacity for editing audio as well and VirtualDub kind of reminds me of that.

For quick and simple edits, I turn to iMovie on my iPhone; it's super user-friendly.
When I'm on my Windows laptop, I've settled with Movavi. It has a neat and easy-to-use interface, and I use it daily. Read this article: https://www.movavi.com/imovie-for-windows/ to find out more about its features and also other editing software options.

I think Microsoft has a new and simple (and free) video editor called ClipChamp. If you are on a PC you should be able to download it from the Microsoft Store on your PC. I haven't used it, but I have read some positive reviews about it.
