Agreed! Thank you to all of those who have served to keep us safe and free! We truly owe our lives to those who have fought to keep our country great.
I come from a military family as well. Both of my grandfathers served in the US Army. My maternal grandfather saw action in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive, serving a year from 1967-68. He was a major in the 4th Infantry (Ivy) Division (get it?-IV?), 1st Cavalry Regiment, and retired as a full colonel. My paternal grandfather was a dentist who practiced on an army base in San Francisco for a couple of years, before returning to the east coast to set up a practice in New Jersey. I believe he was a Lieutenant during that time, but did not see any action. Thankfully, they are both still with us to share their stories about military service, reminding us of the things that make America great.
I also had some descendants who saw action in the civil war from Wisconsin, one was a doctor who became a field surgeon, and his son was an infantryman.
