Looking at doing Pay Pal credit to combine purchases and only have one Credit Card line....
Does it work well, is it worth the effort....
Pay Pal site has a sign up page, but says little/nothing about how it operates...
Thanks
Mark

If you already have a credit card, you don't need to mess with Paypal credit. Just link them as one does with his bank account. Paypal is not known to go easy on the interest and the charges. It is always best to pay cash upfront (debit / bank account or prepaid credit), but I needed credit, I would rather get a credit card anywhere else or even a credit line at the bank instead of Paypal.
FYI, more and more people, including Ebay, are now accepting Google Pay as well. It works pretty much as Paypal, but they're cheaper.

I use a CC in most cases on ebay ---
Just looking for a way to keep CC use (times used, not amount) down to
a couple a month, instead of 5 or 6 a day when I do find things I need....
Did find some info on Paypal credit, didn't really appear what I wanted....

Most of the problem with PayPal is Synchrony Bank. Steer clear of this lender. As a Business account, it's okay, but consumer wise and using it as credit only isn't best choice. Go with what the others said first if possible. Even linking accounts will come with fees.

Bolo - Another option not mentioned yet is to move money to your Paypal account from your CC (or bank account or debit card). Then all of the money you moved is only one line for your balance book. The money in the Paypal account can be used for multiple purchases and you won't have to write anything in the balance book or keep track of money coming from that CC every single time you pay for something. My Paypal account is linked to my bank account, but I try to sell stuff to cover Paypal purchases. Anything coming out of my Paypal account doesn't need to be written down in my checkbook and such. When I spend money using Paypal that my Paypal Balance doesn't cover would need to be written down in my balance book though. Having some money sitting in my Paypal Balance keeps me from having to write so much in my personal balance book about my finances. I've never used the Paypal Credit option and refuse to do so for the reasons mentioned above. Paypal wants me to do it every time I buy anything, but it is NOT worth it!

Spaz,
Kinda what I was looking at..
Recall, you could do that at ebay early on, not sure if you still can...
My use of both have been kinda slim the last few years, things change some and
haven't run the changes down...
One thing your suggestion would do, is set a budget to follow...
Thanks
Mark

Bolo...I have PayPal credit and used to use it all the time. Then I wound up getting an eBay credit card and now use that for all of my eBay purchases. I pay my balance every month, so don't really care about interest rates. The nice thing about PayPal credit is that every purchase over $100 is interest free for six months. Other than that, it works just like any other credit card.

I would not leave a too large balance on my Paypal account. They're well known to scr*w up and freeze funds without warning or without proper justification. Often it is their algorythm that will ring false positives, but it is a pain in the butt to overturn their mistake.

Wouldn't rely on Paypal or ebay if I had money in an account...
Got stung with the Federal Regulations around 2010....
Had a few $ on ebay to pay for a purchase or fee,
left it for years, life interfered with me doing ebay etc...
Lost it to the Feds, not enough to be worth my time running it down....

For what it's worth, I don't think I've ever had more than $50 in my Paypal balance at once for more than a day or two and I've NEVER moved money from my bank account or debit card into my Paypal account. Everything I've spent from my Paypal Balance came from selling other cards first. This reply isn't directed at anyone that replied in the thread, it's just how I've used Paypal. I do use them to pay for stuff from stores and USPS as well, but those come directly from my bank account or my debit card. I don't use the credit and I never leave much money sitting in the Paypal Balance for long.
