They finally finished up approx 11:55 Eastern.....
I expect a few complaints that there wasn't a caution called with 3 laps to go....
Personally, I'm glad they finally let a race finish, too many overtimes for minor bangups that
didn't interfere with the leaders....
Worse part I see with NBC/USA having the race, will be the lack of replays....
Might get lucky, but don't see it happening.....
So better set that DVR up.....

NBC has a "sports overload" issue. It wasn't Golf that made the race not start until 5pm on Sunday. It was USA Olympic Track and Field Trials that was already on the schedule before NASCAR. I still don't see why NBC dropped NBCSN when they already had more sports to air than they have time to do across all NBC Universal networks. That Track and Field competition was already on the Olympic Channel that most people don't get anyway. If anyone in the nation wanted to see it, they would pay for the Olympic Channel or stream Peacock. NASCAR should be a nationwide broadcast if NBC is going to cover it! FOX mostly makes it nationwide with some races only being on FS1. NBC has over half of their races airing on USA this year and they were on NBCSN last year. There is a good reason that NASCAR gave FOX more races when NBC took over the last half of the season. Fox will pre-empt shows for a sports event while NBC would still rather move it to another channel. You never see FOX bump the end of an NFL game to some obscure channel so they can show an episode of Bob's Burgers or The Simpsons!!! NBC/Universal will even bump practice or qualifying to CNBC if a soccer game goes long. NBC is really bad about programming for what they have listed in the schedule. They do it out of nowhere and if you aren't watching at the time, you have no idea what the heck happened. If I wasn't watching the race live, I'd have been more than PO'd about missing the end of the race. The only reason that I didn't miss the end of the race was because I was watching and then I set USA to record for the next 3 hours. I'm not watching an hour or so of L&O:SVU to find out when the race finally re-started. On top of that, the NBC guys said the re-start should be about 10:30pm when they restarted the race just after 10pm EDT. NBC failed across the board with their very 1st Cup race of the season. They need to get it together if they expect to keep viewers AND to keep NASCAR. I don't have a problem with the NBC broadcast team, but they better start scheduling things way better.

NBC got so thumbs up for explaining things like the wheel issue and how
putting them on works....
Currently a couple of videos showing DE Jr running a modified on North Wilksboro....
Asphalt doesn't look too bad, considering it's age and the weather in the area....

I am going to be very annoyed with NASCAR if they stop going to Road America and move the 4th of July date to the Brickyard and that race only draws around 35k.

Yeah, today's race at Road America was not exciting, but at least it was still interesting. I'm not surprised by no cautions (besides stage ends) b/c the track is over 6 miles for a single lap. It's easy for a spinout to not affect any other drivers besides the ones involved. I was surprised by how bad the entire Toyota camp was again today though! I don't know what JGR and 23XI are missing at the road courses but it's a glaring miss. Chevy dominated this race and Ford's were mixed into the crowd. I'm very happy for Reddick getting his first win though (even though I picked Elliott in my fantasy game). Tyler has been SO CLOSE to a win this season and I'm glad it finally happened for him. I knew he'd get a win this season, but just wasn't sure when it would happen for him. On to ATL now and that should be an exciting race with lots of stuff happening on the track! I can't wait to see what happens next Sunday.

I didn't get to catch NASCAR yesterday, but I did see the F1 race. Can we give a shout-out to all the engineers you have made safety advances over the years, between the halo device in F1, the aeroscreen in Indy or the HANS device. For reference. check out the video (11) Turn 1 Crash | 2022 British Grand Prix - YouTube or the bginning of thisa one (11) Race Highlights | 2022 British Grand Prix - YouTube from the British Grand Prix yesterday. Zhou Guanyu is absolutely fine after going through that.

Safety has gone extreme in leaps and bounds in all forms of racing since Earnhardt Sr. died in what looked like a common wreck 20+ years ago. It's not just the strength of the cars or the safer barriers, but all the little things inside or around the drivers now that make everything so much safer these days. I don't even need to see the videos to know what you are talking about here. The main thing left to do is to keep the cars from getting airbourne in high-speed spinouts. Even that is becoming more rare too. Maybe the biggest advancement to safety in IndyCar and F1 after the aeroscreen and halo is the tethering of all items to the cars so they don't get loose and hit spectators and other drivers, crew and track members. Racing in all forms has gotten progressively safer over the past 20-25 years. Don't forget about the simple things like the cooling and hydration systems for the drivers either! The driver needs to be somewhat comfortable to keep control of the car!

I think the Cup race in New Hampshire might have been the most boring race of the season so far. There was a lot of good racing, but very little passing. Seeing a 14th different winner in the 20th race is probably the most interesting thing about the race today. I was very happy with the run that Bubba Wallace had today though. Starting 4th and finishing 3rd while mostly staying in the Top-10 all day was a fantastic race for him, maybe the best total race of his Cup career so far. I know he's won a race and finished 2nd at Daytona a couple of times, but he's been terrible at NH and so it was a great day for him. It's also good to see Bell finally get a 2nd win and at a completely different type of track than his first win last year. That was a tough day for Blaney & Almirola and then Truex not getting the win after dominating the first half of the race. I think it was a worse day for Harvick. Even though he had no real problems and finished 5th, the win by Bell pushes him even farther out of the Playoff Race. These last 6 races before the playoffs should be exciting!
